Splitting Is Expensive In Bollywood

By - A Staff Writer | 7 Aug 2014 10:52 AM GMT

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzzane Khan filed for divorce earlier this year in Mumbai's Bandra family court, putting a full stop to their 17-year long (including four years of courtship) relationship.

The announcement raised several speculations about the possible reasons behind the separation. Suzzane Khan has reportedly demanded Rs 400 crore ($25 million) alimony after the two filed their case.

If true, this is possibly the largest ask ever at least on Indian shores.

Let's look at some of Bollywood's most expensive divorces:

Hrithik Roshan and Suzzane Khan

Post the announcement of ending their marriage, the couple is still making news with reports of Suzzane Khan demanding Rs 400 crore alimony. According to Mail Online India, Hrithik Roshan has agreed to pay Rs 380 crore as settlement, making it, in that case, Bollywood's most expensive divorce.

2. Prabhudeva and Latha

After Prabhudeva and Latha filed for divorce, the actor got almost bankrupt as his wife reportedly received property worth Rs 20-25 crore including a couple of villas and two expensive cars. Prabudeva also paid Rs 10 lakh as one-time alimony.

3. Sanjay Dutt & Rhea Pillai

The separation turned out to be an expensive affair for Sanjay Dutt. There are reports that apart from paying Rhea Pillai Rs 8 crore and an expensive car, the actor also took care of all her expenses till the divorce was finalised.

Karishma Kapoor married Delhi-based businessman Sunjay Kapur in 2003 and filed for divorce in 2014. Although the couple has always remained tight-lipped about the issue, rumours suggest the actress refused to sign the divorce papers till the entrepreneur promised to pay her alimony of Rs 7 crore.

This was one of the most talked Bollywood marriage and break up. Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh filed for divorce after 13 years of marriage. Saif and Amrita have two children. Saif apparently paid Rs 5 crore and a bungalow as alimony.
