Devendra Fadnavis, born on July 22, 1970, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is an Indian politician and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Fadnavis served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2014 to 2019, becoming the second-youngest person to hold this office. Known for his administrative acumen and focus on infrastructure development, Fadnavis emphasized policies related to agriculture, water conservation, and urban development during his tenure. As Chief Minister, he also initiated several digital governance projects and sought to attract investment to Maharashtra, making it a hub for business and development.

Fadnavis began his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and rose through the ranks of the BJP. He has been a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly since 1999, representing the Nagpur South West constituency. In 2019, following a brief political controversy over government formation in Maharashtra, he briefly assumed the Chief Minister’s office before resigning. He currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, continuing to play a key role in state politics.

Fadnavis is known for his strong stance on issues like national security, law and order, and development. His leadership has been marked by both achievements and challenges, including handling farmers' protests, urban infrastructure issues, and coalition politics in Maharashtra.

In October 2024, BOOM fact-checked a viral poster depicting Fadnavis wielding a gun, which was falsely linked to the murder of Baba Siddiqui.

BOOM found out that the poster actually predates Siddiqui’s murder and was created following the encounter of the accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case in September, debunking the misleading claim.
