Amit Shah, born on October 22, 1964 in Mumbai, is an Indian politician. He currently holds the position of the Minister of Home Affairs, and has been serving this role since May 2019. Shah also took on the responsibilities as the first Minister of Co-operation of India starting from July 2021. He was elected as a Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, in the 2019 general elections. Prior to this, Shah has also served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat from August 2017 to May 2019. His legislative career also includes being an elected member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Naranppura from 2012 to 2017 and from Sarkhej from 1997 to 2012.

In April 2024, BOOM found a video showing Amit Shah saying that if the BJP returns to power, reservations for the OBC and SC/ST communities will be abolished.

We found that the viral video had been edited, and in the original video, Amit Shah was seen talking about ending Muslim reservation in Telangana if the BJP is voted to power in the state. In that speech, Shah attacked the then Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao and promised to scrap Muslim reservation if BJP was voted to power.
