Rishi Sunak Becomes UK's First Prime Minister Of Indian Origin After Meeting King Charles III
Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak has been appointed UK's new prime minister after meeting King Charles III on Tuesday.
Sunak, 42, won the Tory leadership contest on Monday after defeating rival Penny Mordaunt. He is the first non-white person to hold the top post in the UK.
Sunak's appointment was made after his first audience with King Charles after which he traveled to Downing Street to make a statement.
"This government will have integrity, professionalism, and accountability at every level. Trust is earned and I will earn yours. I will always be grateful to Boris Johnson for his incredible achievements as Prime Minister," Sunak said after his appointment.
