On Sunday, Mumbai Indians captain Suryakumar Yadav was fined Rs. 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana and Mumbai Indians bowler Hrithik Shokeen were also fined 25 per cent and 10 per cent of their match fee respectively for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
In the ninth over of KKR's innings, Nitish Rana and Hrithik Shokeen got into an on-field scuffle after Shokeen dismissed Rana.
While Shokeen admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, Rana admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.21.
Article 2.5 of IPL's Code of Conduct prohibits the players from using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a Match. Article 2.21 is intended to cover all types of conduct that bring the game into disrepute.
