PM Modi Unveils ‘MANAV’ Vision At AI Impact Summit
On the fourth day of the India AI Impact Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the opening ceremony alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and other global leaders.
In his keynote, PM Modi introduced the “MANAV Vision” for artificial intelligence — with “Manav” meaning human — and said AI must remain centered around people. The framework is based on five key principles: Moral and Ethical Systems, Accountable Governance, National Sovereignty over data, Accessible and Inclusive development, and Valid and Legitimate systems.
PM Modi talks about the need for global standards to deal with risks such as deepfakes and fake digital content, warning that such technologies can disturb open societies. Modi called for authenticity labels, watermarking, and clear source standards so people can easily tell what is real and what is AI-generated.
“We are entering an era where humans and intelligent systems co create, co-work and co-evolve,” he said. He added that India sees AI as an opportunity, not a threat, and said the country has the talent, energy capacity, and policy clarity to lead in this space. He also noted that three Indian companies launched AI models and applications during the summit.
“AI is not just making machines intelligent; it is multiplying human capability,” Modi said. “The only difference this time is that the speed and scale are unprecedented.” He added that technological changes that once took decades are now happening much faster, with the shift from machine learning to “learning machines.”
