India’s ‘Boong’ Wins Best Children And Family Film At BAFTA Awards
India made a mark at the BAFTA Awards this year with Boong winning in the Best Children and Family Film category. The Manipuri-language debut feature was the only Indian nominee at the awards. It competed against Arco, Lilo & Stitch, and Zootopia 2.
Boong tells the story of a young boy from Manipur who wants to surprise his mother by bringing his father back home, leading to an emotional journey and a new beginning.
The film premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and was later screened at major festivals including Warsaw International Film Festival 2024, MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024, the 55th International Film Festival of India, and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2025.
