India Ranks 10th In Global Data Breach Rankings For Q3 2023: Study
According to a recent report by cyber security firm, Surfshark, India is the 10th most breached country globally in the third quarter of 2023, despite a decrease in breach count for three quarters in a row.
During this period, India had 3,69,000 leaked accounts, which equates to three leaked accounts per minute.
The US ranked 1st with 8.1 million leaked accounts, followed by Russia (7.1 million), France (1.6 million), China (1.5 million), and Mexico (1.2 million).
Agneska Sablovskaja, lead researcher at Surfshark, said, “The third quarter of 2023 shows a general decrease in data breach count. Yet every minute, over 240 online accounts were compromised globally, exposing sensitive information to malicious actors.”
The data for the study was collected by Surfshark's independent partners from 29,000 publicly available databases.
