Christians Gather At Delhi's Jantar Mantar To Protest Attacks On Churches
Several members of the Christian community on Sunday staged a peaceful protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against the recent attacks on churches in several parts of the country.
Organised by the Delhi NCR Christian Community, the protest was attended by people from other states like Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
"The purpose of the rally is to bring the attention of the government, Supreme Court and civil society to the sharp increase in the targeted hate, hostility and violence against Christians in many states, particularly Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka and Jharkhand," Delhi NCR Christian community said in a statement.
“The rise in attacks on Christians and churches is a concerning trend, particularly in remote areas where dalits and tribals are often targeted. It is imperative that we acknowledge the vulnerability of our community and recognize the need for increased protection,” former Delhi minority commission member and advocate Tenista Shergill told BOOM.
