SIR Deadlines Extended In Six Regions; West Bengal Gets No Relief
The Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for submitting enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in five states and one Union Territory.
Tamil Nadu and Gujarat have been given an extended submission deadline of December 14, with their draft electoral rolls now scheduled for publication on December 19.
Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have received a longer extension, with the new deadline set for December 18 and the draft rolls to be published on December 23.
Uttar Pradesh has been granted the longest extension, with enumeration submissions due by December 26 and the draft roll scheduled for December 31.
West Bengal has not been given any extension despite protests and reported BLO deaths linked to SIR pressure. Goa, Rajasthan, Puducherry and Lakshadweep will submit their enumeration forms on December 11, with draft rolls to be published on December 16.
Kerala, which had revised its schedule earlier, will submit enumeration forms by December 18, and the draft rolls will be published on December 23.
