Hardik Patel Quits Congress, Says Gujarat Congress Leaders Do Not Care About State's Issues
Patidar leader Hardik Patel has resigned from the Congress accusing the party of not wanting to do anything for Gujarat and India.
In his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi, Patel said that Gujarat Congress leader have lost touch with on-ground problems and instead were focused on timely delivery of "chicken sandwich for leaders who have come from Delhi."
"When it came to issues related to India, Gujarat and my Patidar community, Congress' only stand was to oppose whatever government of India led by PM Narendra Modi did," Patel wrote.
Accusing Gujarat party leaders of working for personal gains, Patel wrote, "Whenever I went among the youth, I was always asked why I was in a party which constantly insulted Gujaratis- be it in the business sector, in matters of religion and even in politics."
Patel's exit is a blow for the Congress party as it prepares for the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections.
