Meet Arati Prabhakar, The New Science Adviser Of The White House Nominated By Joe Biden

On June 21, US President Joe Biden nominated Indian American scientist, Dr. Arati Prabhakar, as the new science adviser of the White House.
Once confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Prabhakar would write history as the very first woman, immigrant or person of colour to head the OSTP (Office of Science and Technology Policy).
Upon her nomination, Biden said, “Dr. Prabhakar is a brilliant and highly-respected engineer and applied physicist and will lead the OSTP to leverage science, technology, and innovation to expand our possibilities, solve our toughest challenges, and make the impossible possible,”
Dr. Arati has previously served as the Director of the United States Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the birthplace of breakthrough technologies like stealth aircraft and the Internet.
Dr. Prabhakar was born in New Delhi, India. Her family migrated to the United States when she was three years old. She was the first woman to pursue a PhD in Applied Physics from Caltech university.
