Yashwant Sinha Joins TMC

Sinha served as an IAS officer for 24 years between 1960 to 1984. After finishing his tenure as the Joint Secretary to Government of India in the Ministry of Surface Transport, he retired from bureaucracy and entered politics.
After joining the Janata Party, Sinha went the newly formed Janata Dal, which he represented in the Rajya Sabha. He also had seven-month tenure from November 1990 to June 1991 as the Union Finance Minister in Chandra Shekhar's government.
He joined the BJP in mid 90's and stayed with the party for over 20 years. He has served as the Finance Minister and Minister of External Affairs under the NDA government.
After Modi's victory in 2014, Sinha was sidelined by the party along with some other senior BJP leaders. He became more and more critical of the Modi administration, and left BJP in 2018. He has campaigned against the BJP on several occasions since then.
