X To Suspend Creators Posting AI War Videos Without Disclosure
X’s head of product, Nikita Bier, announced on Tuesday that X will suspend creators from its Creator Revenue Sharing Program for 90 days if they post AI-generated videos of armed conflicts without clearly disclosing that the content is AI-made.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East after US-Israeli strikes on Iran. “During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground. With today’s AI technologies, it is trivial to create content that can mislead people,” Bier wrote on X.
Bier mentioned on his X post that Creators who continue sharing misleading AI-generated war content after the suspension period will be permanently removed from the monetization program.
The company said misleading posts will be identified using a combination of AI detection tools and its crowdsourced fact-checking feature, Community Notes.
The Creator Revenue Sharing Program allows users to earn advertising revenue from popular posts.
However, the new rule targets only AI-generated war content, the other forms of AI-driven misinformation such as political manipulation or deceptive influencer promotions, may still circulate on the platform.
