PM Modi Inaugurates GPAI Summit In New Delhi, Advocates Inclusive And Ethical AI Development
The annual Global Partnership for Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) summit commenced at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on December 12, featuring deliberations on topics such as AI safety and developmental challenges.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined the mission’s objective of developing strong AI computing capabilities within the nation, thereby enhancing support for innovators and startup endeavours.
Highlighting the significance of inclusivity in AI technology, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of pursuing development guided by human and democratic values.
PM Modi also highlighted the significance of incorporating emotions, ethics, and efficiency in the direction of AI development. “It is up to us to keep a place for emotions along with efficiency, ethics along with effectiveness,” he said.
Highlighting challenges such as deepfake technology, data theft, and the possibility of terrorists exploiting AI tools, he expressed concerns regarding the possible abuse of AI, underscoring its dual character as both a developmental tool and a potential menace.
