India Wins Women’s World Cup 2025 with Record-Breaking Viewership

On November 2, 2025, the Indian women’s cricket team made history by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

The tournament witnessed unprecedented global viewership, with the first 13 matches drawing over 60 million viewers—a fivefold increase from the previous edition and generating 7 billion minutes of watch-time, representing 12 times jump.

Key matches delivered record-breaking numbers, with the India–Pakistan clash on October 5 becoming the most-watched women’s international match ever, drawing 28.4 million viewers and 1.87 billion minutes of watch-time.

The semi-final against Australia recorded a peak of 4.8 million concurrent viewers on the streaming platform, and 131 million overall for that fixture.

The final broke all previous benchmarks: within the first few overs over 121 million viewers tuned in, rising to 135 million mid-match, and ultimately surpassing 190 million viewers, eclipsing the 2017 final’s 126 million record.

Ticketing for the final sold out in minutes, with resale prices reportedly reaching ₹1.77 lakh.

Meanwhile, the BCCI announced a ₹51 crore cash reward for the Indian team—exceeding the ICC winners’ prize of USD 4.48 million (~₹39.78 crore)—to honour their historic triumph.
