Discord Confirms Data Breach After Hack on Third-Party Vendor
Discord, a communication platform has confirmed a data breach after hackers targeted one of its third-party customer service providers, gaining access to user data and attempting to extort money from the platform.
The breach may have exposed names, Discord usernames, email addresses, and contact details shared with customer support. Limited billing details, including payment types, the last four digits of credit card numbers, and purchase history, were also accessed.
Hackers reportedly obtained IP addresses, messages with customer service, and some internal corporate materials, such as training documents and presentations.
Discord said the incident affected only a limited number of users who interacted with its Customer Support or Trust & Safety teams. The company confirmed that full credit card numbers, CVV codes, and passwords were not compromised.
The platform added that regular messages, servers, and user activity outside of customer support channels remain unaffected. Discord said that it has notified data protection authorities and strengthened its security controls for third-party vendors.
