On February 1, the Myanmar army under Min Aung Hlaing's leadership deposed the democratically elected government and detained President Win Myint and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.

Protestors are demanding the release of Suu Kyi.
Citizens have vented their ire against Hlaing at the protests.
White hard hats and the three-fingered salute have become synonymous with the protests.
Like previous protests, Suu Kyi has become a symbol of freedom for Myanmarese citizens.
Protestors marched on the streets of Yangon towards the famous Sule Pagoda at the heart of the city.
