At least 111 people were killed after a devastating storm and heavy rain swept across Uttar Pradesh on May 13 and May 14.
According to the reports, the large-scale storm caused significant damage across 26 districts, damaging houses, uprooting trees and electric poles. The State Relief Commissioner, Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod, said on May 14 that the situation is being closely monitored.
“Reports of 111 deaths were received from 26 districts. 72 persons were injured, 170 livestock losses and damage to 227 houses have been reported,” the Relief Commissioner’s office said in a statement.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also directed the officials to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and financial aid of ₹4 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
