Assam-Mizoram Border Dispute: Police Forces Of Either State Clash, Five Assamese Policemen Killed

Five police personnel of the Assam police died on Monday after clashes erupted at the Assam-Mizoram border.
The incident was preceded by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mizoram CM Zoramthanga arguing on Twitter and asking for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's intervention in the matter.
The clashes occurred at the border separating Assam's Cachar district and Mizoram's Kolasib district. The border has been disputed by both sides for decades with citizens from both states being accused of destroying properties on the other sides of the border.
The clashes have taken place just two days after Amit Shah met with CMs of North Eastern states for a discussion on inter-state boundary issues.
Shah spoke with both CMs and urged them to bring an end to the violence and allow a neutral CRPF force to police the area.
